The self-homing threaded cone at the tip guides the bit into the material from the first contact, so the bit tracks accurately without needing heavy pressure from the operator. Ground cutting edges reduce the effort required throughout the bore.

Chip evacuation and hole quality:

The very wide and deep spiral along the shaft clears chips from the hole rapidly as you drill, which directly increases drilling speed and reduces the risk of the bit binding in the material. The single-groove coil profile leaves a noticeably cleaner hole surface compared to multi-groove designs, which is useful where a tidy finish matters or where the hole will receive a fitting or cable.

Hardened alloy steel build and secure chuck fit:

The bit is made from high-quality hardened alloy steel throughout, giving it the durability needed for repeated use in construction and joinery work. The hexagonal shank prevents the bit from rotating inside the drill chuck, keeping it seated firmly during the full length of each bore. The 400mm length makes this bit well suited to through-drilling in structural timber rather than surface-only work.

Shop the full Drill Bits range from Heavins.ie, with delivery available across Ireland.

Key Features

Self-homing threaded cone - guides the bit through the material for accurate, low-force drilling.
Hexagonal shank - locks into the drill chuck and prevents rotation during use.
Wide deep spiral - evacuates chips rapidly, increasing overall drilling speed.
Single-groove coil - produces a smoother hole surface for cleaner results.
Hardened alloy steel - resists wear for long-term use in professional applications.
400mm length - suitable for through-drilling in structural timber and deep bores.
Compatible substrates - wood, timber, chipboard and oriented strand board.

Specifications

Brand: Rawlplug

Model: RT-AWD-140-400

Drill diameter: 14mm

Bit length: 400mm

Shank type: Hexagonal

Material: High-quality hardened alloy steel

Compatible materials: Wood, timber, chipboard, oriented strand board

Country of origin: Poland

Approximate weight (single bit): 284g

Warranty: 1 Year

What's Included in the Box

1 x Rawlplug 14mm x 400mm auger drill bit

Plastic storage box

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0614/5261/5816/files/heavins-rawlplug-auger-wood-drill-bit-14mm-x-100mm-awd-140-400-01.jpg?v=1791797603
