Setup and Care

Initial charge and Windows 11 Pro setup:

Connect the AC power adaptor and fully charge the battery before first use. Open the lid and press the power button. Windows 11 Pro is pre-installed: follow the on-screen setup wizard to configure your language, Wi-Fi, and Microsoft account. Windows will download and install the latest updates during initial setup. Set up the fingerprint reader through Windows Hello for fast, secure biometric login.

Connecting displays and docking stations:

Connect external monitors via the Thunderbolt 3 USB-C ports (supporting DisplayPort output) or the HDMI 1.4b port. The EliteBook 840 G7 is compatible with HP USB-C docking stations for single-cable desk connectivity including power, display, and peripherals. The two USB-A ports handle wired accessories, and the always-on USB-A port charges devices when the laptop is powered off.
