Tablets for Sale

Every tablet currently reduced at Heavins is gathered here. A tablet is the machine people reach for when a laptop is too much and a phone is too small: reading, streaming, video calls, recipes in the kitchen, homework, drawing, and keeping a child occupied on a long drive. Because the job is undemanding, a tablet on sale is rarely a compromised one, and the specification that decides whether you will still be happy with it in three years is not the one on the front of the box.

Screen size comes first. An 8 inch tablet is a one handed reading and travel size that fits in a coat pocket. 10 to 11 inch is the standard, big enough for split screen work, a film or a keyboard cover, and it is the size most people should buy. Resolution matters less than panel quality at these sizes; a bright screen is worth more than a spec sheet. After that, check storage and whether there is a microSD slot, because 64GB fills quickly once a few films are downloaded and a card slot is a cheap way to avoid that. RAM of 4GB is fine for reading and streaming, 6GB or more keeps several apps open comfortably.

The other decision is Wi-Fi only against Wi-Fi and mobile data. Wi-Fi only is cheaper and covers the way most tablets are actually used, at home and in the car on a phone hotspot. A mobile data model earns its cost if the tablet travels with you every day. Battery life is worth checking too, since a tablet is often charged every few days rather than nightly, and a case or a keyboard cover is the accessory that changes what the device is for.

Tablet pricing follows the phone cycle rather than the computing one. New generations land in spring, the outgoing model drops immediately, and because tablets change slowly the previous generation is often the same screen and the same battery with a slightly older chip. That is what makes a reduced tablet the best value buy in the category, and it is why last year's Galaxy Tab at a sale price usually beats this year's entry model at full price.
