Work trousers are chosen by what the pockets have to carry and how much the job asks the fabric to move. Holster pocket trousers carry fixings and small tools at the hip and are the standard for anyone working off a bench or a ladder; detachable holsters tuck away when they are in the way. Slimfit stretch trousers trade some pocket volume for movement and are the better choice for kneeling and climbing all day. Canvas and Canvas+ stretch trousers take the roughest wear on site. Urban and tradesman styles read tidier for customer-facing work. Hi-vis two tone traffic rain trousers go over the top where visibility and wet weather both apply, and painters trousers come in white with the pockets a decorator needs. Knee pad pockets are standard across the better ranges and the pads are bought separately. Sizing runs to waist and leg on the manufacturer's own chart rather than high street sizing, and the leg length is worth checking as closely as the waist.
