Blades are chosen by the material and the finish wanted, and the tooth count is what tells you both. On jigsaw blades, a coarse tooth cuts wood fast but leaves a rough edge, a fine tooth cuts slower and cleaner, and downward-cut blades such as the T101BR are made for laminate and veneer where an upward stroke would chip the face. Metal-cutting blades like the T118A have far finer teeth again. Fitment matters as much: T-shank blades fit most modern saws including Bosch, Dewalt, Makita, Festool and Metabo, so check which your saw takes. On circular saw blades, 165mm and 190mm are the common domestic sizes and the bore must match the arbor, while a 24 tooth blade rips framing timber quickly and a 40 tooth blade crosscuts with a cleaner edge. Sabre and reciprocating blades are sized by length and teeth per inch, with 6 TPI for wood and 10 TPI for metal. Multi-tool blades cover flush and detail cuts nothing else reaches.
