A bathroom worktop is the surface that sits on top of a vanity unit, and it exists to let you choose the basin separately from the cabinet. That is the whole point of the format: a countertop basin sits on the worktop rather than being built into it, so you can pair a plain unit with a distinctive basin, or replace the basin later without touching the carpentry. Width has to match the unit beneath it, so measure the cabinet rather than the old surface, and 60cm is the standard single vanity width. Depth and overhang matter too, since a worktop should sit flush at the back and project only slightly at the front. Two things to plan before ordering. First, the tap: a countertop basin usually has no tap hole of its own, which means the tap either mounts through the worktop or comes off the wall, and that hole is cut once. Second, sealing. A bathroom worktop is a horizontal timber surface in a wet room, so the cut edges around any tap or waste hole must be sealed before the basin goes on, and the joint at the wall needs a bead of silicone. Natural oak reads warmer than a gloss unit and hides water marks better than a dark finish. Wipe standing water rather than leaving it to sit.
