Solar Lights & Garden Ornaments

Solar Lights & Garden Ornaments

Garden ornaments are the finishing layer of a garden, and the choice comes down to where a piece will sit and whether it needs to do a job as well as look good. Solar garden ornaments charge from a small built in panel during the day and light up by themselves at dusk, so they work anywhere in the garden with no cable or socket. There is a 75cm revolving LED lighthouse for a border or the edge of a pond, owls and birds on a solar stone, a solar robin on a stake, a tweeting bluebird light, a gazing Buddha, a flocked fairy house with solar powered window lights and a girl with her cat at a welcome sign. For a grave or a memorial garden there is a kneeling angel with a solar lamp. Character ornaments bring the same personality without the light. The Wilf gnome range covers Farmer Wilf on his tractor, Welcoming Wilf, Wilf mowing, Wilf Fun Guy and Wilf's Shed, alongside fairy homes such as the Teapot Studio, Watering World and Fuchsia Foyer, and garden animals including hedgehogs on toadstools, highland cows, a cow and calf, a standing cow, Labrador pups on a kennel, a duck family, a donkey, a sheep and a rabbit with a bunch of carrots.

Other pieces do a job as well. A bird bath in verdigris or with a bee design, a bird feeder shaped as a sleeping cat or a fairy house, a robins bird feeder tree decoration and a bug and bee habitat house all give birds and insects a reason to visit. Garden water features add sound as well as movement, with a whiskey barrels cascade and a frog frolics fountain. A garden arch frames a path, a gate or the entrance to a seating area and gives climbers something to grow over, with a Minster metal garden arch, a woodland garden arch in tan and a gothic style arch. Garden mirrors reflect light back into a shaded corner and make a small garden or patio feel larger, in Louvre, Arcadia, Vista, Victorian and Eden designs with slate, silver and silvergris finishes. For movement in the wind there is a giant woodland windmill, a Helios wind spinner, the Rusty Sun and Concerto wind chimes and weather vanes topped with a cockerel or a stag. To dress a front door or a gate, the 45cm whirl wreaths come in lilac, meadow and spring designs, with a wisteria garland and a 40cm boxwood heart, and the Regal hanging basket comes in Summer Bloom. Artificial trees stay green all year in a planter, with a 60cm white Regent's rose tree, a 92cm potted lemon tree and a 120cm red rose faux tree, and a 36cm black lantern with an LED candle finishes a doorstep or a table.

A garden clock is decoration that tells the time, and a station style clock with a thermometer built in does two jobs on one wall. Hang a garden clock on a sheltered wall, a shed or a fence post where it can be read from the house or the patio, and add an indoor and outdoor wall thermometer wherever you want a reading without a clock.

The range comes from Smart Garden, covering the Wilf gnomes and fairy homes, bird baths, arches, mirrors, wind spinners, wind chimes, weather vanes, wreaths, water features and the station clocks, and from Smart Solar with the gazing Buddha solar light. WGP supplies the solar robin, the owls and birds on solar stones, the fairy house with solar window lights, the kneeling angel, the bird feeders and the farm animal ornaments, Country Living the hedgehogs, highland cows, rabbit and wall bracket hanging clock, and Gardenkraft the revolving LED lighthouse and the tweeting bluebird light. Solar ornaments add a feature to a bed or a rockery, with owls, frogs and a sunflower that blink after dark, a woodland wizard, a wellie, a strawberry house and a snail house, and silhouettes of a cow and a sheep. The peacock and penny farthing solar wind spinners move by day and glow at night, and the Tree of Life decor panel and Wings DecorDisc hang on a wall or a fence.
