Botanicals is the adult-oriented LEGO theme, and it works differently to every other range because the finished model is the product rather than a toy. These are buildable flowers and plants meant to be displayed permanently in a vase or on a shelf, and the appeal is threefold: the build itself is relaxing and repetitive in a deliberate way, the result never wilts or needs water, and it suits anyone with pollen allergies or a room with no light. That makes them a genuine alternative to cut flowers as a gift rather than a novelty. Two formats run through the range. Bouquets are collections of individual stems on adjustable pieces, so the arrangement can be shaped to fit a vase and stems from different sets combine into one display, which is why people accumulate them. Potted plants are self-contained, coming with their own container and needing no vase at all, which makes them the simpler gift. Scale varies considerably, so read the piece count: smaller sets build in under an hour and suit a desk or windowsill, while a full bouquet is an evening's work and makes a centrepiece. Almost all are marked 18+, which reflects the intended audience rather than difficulty alone.
