Size is quoted width by drop and both numbers matter. 180cm by 180cm is the standard and fits a typical bath or alcove. 180cm by 200cm is the same width with a longer drop, which is what a raised rail or a high ceiling needs. 200cm by 200cm covers a wider opening or gives more overlap at the ends, and overlap is what actually stops water escaping at the corners. Measure the rail span and the height from rail to floor, then allow the curtain to finish just inside the bath rather than pooling on it. Material changes how the curtain behaves rather than how it looks. PEVA is a plastic film that is fully waterproof, wipes clean and needs no liner, which makes it the simplest choice. Polyester is a fabric with a water resistant coating, hangs better and feels less clinical, but it will wet through eventually and benefits from being pulled fully across to dry rather than bunched. Vinyl sits between the two and is hard wearing. Eyelet or ring headings are worth checking: reinforced metal eyelets do not tear the way punched plastic holes do, and clip-on rings let you rehang a curtain without threading it. Whatever the material, drawing the curtain closed after use rather than leaving it gathered is what prevents mould at the folds.
