Material is the main choice. Stainless steel wipes clean, resists staining and suits a modern bathroom with chrome fittings, though it shows water marks. PVC and moulded plastic are lighter, cost less and come in a far wider colour range, which is the practical route if you are matching a scheme rather than a metal finish. Silicone heads are the third option and are worth understanding: the blades flex rather than splaying out over time, they hold far less water than bristles so they dry faster between uses, and they do not trap residue the way a bristle head does. Footprint is the other consideration and it is usually the deciding one in a small bathroom, where a slim profile holder that tucks beside the pan is the difference between usable and in the way. Refillable sets let you replace just the head rather than the whole unit, which keeps a good holder in service. Check whether a set is freestanding or wall mounted before ordering, as the two are not interchangeable.
