LEGO Super Heroes

LEGO Super Heroes

Super Heroes covers both Marvel and DC under one theme, so the first thing to check is which universe the child follows, since a Spider-Man fan and a Batman fan want different boxes. Beyond that, the range divides by format rather than by character. Mech sets put a hero into a large posable robot suit, and they are the accessible entry point: quick to build, chunky enough to survive play, and satisfying because the arms and legs actually move. Versus sets pair a hero and a villain with a vehicle or a scene, which supplies the conflict most children want out of the box rather than needing to invent it. Vehicle sets centre on a recognisable machine such as the Batman Tumbler, and the vehicle is the draw. Collectors' editions sit apart entirely, aimed at adults, built for display rather than play, and usually marked 18+ with a much higher piece count. Minifigure selection matters more here than in almost any other theme, because the characters are the reason for buying, so check which figures are included rather than only what the set builds. Age markings reflect small parts as well as difficulty. Sets share scale, so heroes and villains from different boxes play together.

LEGO supplies the range. Spider-Man sets cover Spider-Man vs. Venom Muscle Car, Spider-Man vs. Doc Ock Subway Train Scene, Spider-Man Mech vs. Anti-Venom and Spiderman vs. Ghost Rider Motorcycle. Iron Man sets cover Iron Man and War Machine vs. Hammer Drones, Iron Man Mech vs. Ultron and the Iron Man Mark 3 Collectors' Edition for adult builders. On the DC side, the Batman Tumbler vs. Two-Face and The Joker covers the vehicle format. For other themes see LEGO Ninjago and LEGO City.
