The longest-running licensed LEGO theme, and the practical way to choose is by build size rather than by film, because the range spans a very wide price and complexity spread under one banner. Battle packs are the entry point, supplying four minifigures and a small build, and they are the efficient way to grow an army of clone or imperial troopers since the figures are the point. Microfighters shrink a recognisable ship to a chunky one-figure model that builds in under an hour, which suits younger children and pocket money. Mechs are a newer format, putting a character into a posable humanoid suit, and they sit in the same accessible bracket. Speeders and small vehicles are mid-range single-scene sets. Large playsets and vehicles such as an AT-AT are the display pieces, with high piece counts and a build measured in hours rather than minutes. Minifigure selection drives a lot of buying decisions, so it is worth checking which characters a set includes rather than only what it builds. Age markings reflect both build difficulty and small parts, so read them rather than estimating. Sets from different eras of the franchise combine freely, since the scale is consistent within each format.
