Ironing Boards

Ironing Boards

Board size should match the ironing you actually do rather than the biggest board available: around 122cm suits most everyday shirts and trousers, while a larger board gives more room for bedding and larger items but takes up more space to store. A cover wears out long before the board itself, since it's what actually contacts the hot plate, so an elasticated or expression cover that stretches to fit rather than needing pins is worth having as a spare. Frame weight matters for anyone folding the board away after each use rather than leaving it up, since a lightweight compact frame is easier to store in a narrow gap or a cupboard.

Brabantia supplies boards with patterned covers built for steam irons. De Vielle covers the Supreme lightweight compact board, and Minky the Hotspot and Verso Sequin designs plus a universal smart-fit replacement cover. JML supplies elasticated and expression replacement covers. For irons and steam mops see Irons & Steam Mops.
