LEGO Bluey

LEGO Bluey

Bluey sets span two different LEGO systems and getting that right matters more here than in most themes, because the audience covers a wide age range. DUPLO sets use the oversized bricks made for toddlers from around 18 months, large enough to be safe for children still putting things in their mouths and easy for small hands to press together. Standard LEGO Bluey sets use normal-sized bricks and suit roughly 4 and up, with smaller pieces and a proper instruction booklet to follow. The two stack together, so a child moving up from DUPLO keeps everything they already own. Choose by the child's age first and the episode second. Within that, the sets divide by play type. Vehicle and outing sets recreate a journey and suit push-along and story play. House and playground sets are location-based, giving somewhere for the figures to live and return to, which is what generates repeat play rather than a single afternoon. Sets that include a game element, such as a memory game, add a second activity to the same box. Bluey figures are moulded characters rather than standard minifigures, so they are recognisable to a child who watches the programme, which is really the whole point of a licensed set.

LEGO supplies the range. Standard sets cover Bluey's Beach and Family Car Trip and Playground Fun with Bluey and Chloe. DUPLO sets for younger children cover the Ice Cream Trip with Bluey, Bluey's Family House with Memory Game and the Colorful Creative Box. For younger builders generally see LEGO DUPLO, and for other themes LEGO City.
