Setup and Care

Assembly and initial positioning:

Assemble the BBQ following the included instructions on a flat, stable surface. Ensure all bolts and connections are tightened securely before use. Position the assembled BBQ on a level, non-flammable surface such as a patio, paving, or gravel area. Keep away from fences, overhanging branches, and garden structures. Lock the castor wheels once positioned to prevent movement during cooking.

First use and charcoal preparation:

Before first use, light a small amount of charcoal and allow the BBQ to burn for 20-30 minutes to cure the porcelain enamel coating. For subsequent cooks, fill the stainless steel charcoal tray with your preferred charcoal, light using firelighters or a chimney starter, and allow coals to develop a white ash coating before cooking. Use the lift-open hatch to add more charcoal during longer cooking sessions.

Temperature control and cooking:

Adjust the lower and upper air vents to control airflow and cooking temperature. Opening vents increases heat by allowing more oxygen to reach the charcoal; closing vents reduces temperature. Monitor the hood-mounted temperature gauge for accurate readings. Keep the hood closed as much as possible to maintain consistent heat and maximise smoky flavour. Use the Sahara Grill Insert System accessories (sold separately) for pizza baking, searing, or griddle cooking.

Cleaning and seasonal maintenance:

After each cook, allow the BBQ to cool completely before cleaning. Remove ash using the quick-action ash collection system and dispose safely. Clean the Stainless Steel 304 cooking grill with a wire brush whilst still warm for easier residue removal. Wipe the stainless steel worktop and porcelain enamelled surfaces with a damp cloth. During winter months, cover the BBQ with a fitted BBQ cover (sold separately) or store in a dry, sheltered location to protect the finish and extend the life of the warranty.
