Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to bury boundary wires to set one up?

No. The current Segway Navimow range is fully wire-free — there are no perimeter wires to bury and no antenna reference station to mount. The mower maps your lawn automatically on first use, and the navigation runs on a combination of network RTK positioning, vision, and solid-state LiDAR depending on the model. It's effectively a "drop and mow" setup, which is exactly the kind of thing that's great to show off live on the day

How big a lawn can it handle, and will it cope with slopes?

There's a model for nearly every garden. Smaller models suit compact suburban lawns, while the flagship X4 Series handles yards up to 1.5 acres, with an AWD system that manages slopes up to 40 degrees. Mid-range models like the H2 are built for slopes up to 24 degrees and lawns up to around half an acre. For the demo, it's worth matching the model on show to the typical garden size of your customers.

Is it safe around children, pets, and obstacles?

Yes - obstacle detection is one of the strongest features. The LiDAR-equipped models can detect objects as small as one centimetre and identify more than 200 types of obstacle, including moving animals and suspended objects. It navigates around them rather than over them, and the blades stop when the unit is lifted or tilted

How much maintenance does it actually need?

Very little day to day. It returns to its dock to charge on its own and works to a schedule you set in the app. The main upkeep is occasional blade replacement and keeping the unit and sensors clean. Newer models use independent steering motors for sharp turns without scuffing or leaving divots in the turf, so it's gentle on the lawn over time
