A wearable display built for gaming:

The ROG XREAL R1 replaces your monitor with a virtual screen of up to 171 inches at a viewing distance of 4 metres. Each eye receives its own 0.55-inch Sony Micro OLED panel running at 1920x1080 resolution, 700 nits of brightness, and a 0.01ms response time, with a 3ms motion-to-photon latency that keeps the image sharp and responsive during fast-paced gaming sessions.

Frame Rate Boost and display modes:

The native refresh rate is 120Hz, and ASUS ROG's Frame Rate Boost algorithm doubles that to 240Hz for titles that benefit from higher frame cadence. Electrochromic dimming Technology lets you switch between three hardware tint levels at the press of a button, and Auto transparency activates automatically in Anchor Mode so you can glance at your surroundings without removing the glasses.

Native 3DoF tracking and viewing modes:

Built-in Native 3DoF (Three Degrees of Freedom) tracking drives both Anchor Mode, which fixes the virtual screen to a point in space, and Follow Mode, which keeps it centred in your line of sight as you move your head. A capacitive sensor detects when the glasses are worn and adjusts accordingly. The 57-degree field of view and 40 pixels per degree (PPD) give a wide, detailed image, and the interpupillary distance (IPD) adjusts between 57mm and 75mm across narrow and broad settings.

Sound by Bose open-air audio:

The speakers are tuned by Bose and use phase cancellation technology to direct audio towards your ears while reducing sound leakage to those nearby. A mic-array with noise cancelling handles voice input for calls or communication during multiplayer sessions. The open-air design means you retain full awareness of ambient sound without needing headphones.

ROG Control Dock for PC and console connectivity:

The included ROG Control Dock is a dedicated breakout box that connects the R1 to DisplayPort 1.4 sources and up to two HDMI 2.0 devices simultaneously, covering PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch from a single unit. GamePlus and Game Visual features are accessible via the dock, along with HDR10 support. The dock also passes 5V power to the glasses via USB-C DC-IN, so there is no need for a separate power source during extended sessions.

Setup and Care

Getting started:

Connect the ROG XREAL R1 directly to a ROG Ally or any USB-C device that supports DisplayPort Alt Mode for an immediate plug-and-play virtual display. Install DisplayWidget Center on your PC to access Aura RGB customisation, Frame Rate Boost settings, and Game Visual presets through a straightforward software interface.

Console and PC connectivity via ROG Control Dock:

Plug your PC, PlayStation, or Xbox into one of the two HDMI 2.0 ports or the DisplayPort 1.4 input on the ROG Control Dock, then connect the dock to the glasses via USB-C. The dock handles power delivery to the glasses at 5V, so no additional charger is required during use.

Fitting and IPD adjustment:

Select the narrow (57-66mm) or broad (66-75mm) IPD setting to suit your eye spacing, and adjust the temple angle across three positions for a comfortable, secure fit. Swap in the detachable prescription lens frame if you require corrective lenses, and choose from the available nose pads to fine-tune the fit for extended wear.

Cleaning and storage:

Wipe the lenses with the included cleaning cloth using light, circular strokes to avoid scratching the waveguide surfaces. Store the glasses in the included carrying case when not in use to protect both the lenses and the Aura RGB temple strips from dust and impact.
