The DeWalt DCD86MP1T is a special edition 18V XR brushless combi drill created in collaboration with McLaren F1 Team, combining professional-grade drilling performance with the McLaren F1 design language. The brushless motor delivers up to 90Nm of torque and a no-load speed of 0-2,000 RPM through a 2-speed gearbox, handling drilling, hammer drilling, and screwdriving across wood, metal, masonry, and composite materials. E-Clutch anti-rotation system and 14-position torque control:

The E-Clutch system detects sudden tool rotation caused by bind-ups (the drill bit catching in the material) and shuts the motor down automatically, reducing the risk of wrist injury during overhead drilling and large-diameter hole-cutting. The 14-position adjustable torque control ring provides consistent, repeatable screwdriving across a wide range of materials and fastener sizes, preventing over-driving and cam-out. The 2-speed gearbox allows you to select low speed for high torque applications and high speed for fast drilling.

3-mode pivoting LED with steel belt hook and magnetic bit holder:

Setup and Care

Battery charging and first use:

Charge the included 5.0Ah McLaren F1 battery fully using the supplied charger before first use. Slide the charged battery onto the base of the drill until it clicks into place. Select the appropriate speed setting (1 or 2) and adjust the torque ring to suit your application. Insert a drill bit or driver bit into the 13mm chuck and tighten.

Drilling, hammer drilling, and screwdriving modes:

Select drill mode for standard drilling into wood, metal, and plastic. Select hammer drill mode for masonry, brick, and concrete. Use the 14-position torque ring for screwdriving, starting at a lower setting and increasing until the screw is driven flush without over-driving. The intelligent variable-speed trigger provides full speed control from a standing start to maximum RPM.

Using the E-Clutch and LED light:

The E-Clutch system activates automatically when the drill detects a sudden bind-up, shutting the motor down to protect your wrist and the workpiece. This is particularly important during overhead drilling and when using large-diameter hole saws. The 3-mode pivoting LED illuminates the work surface from below; pivot the light to direct it where visibility is needed most.

Maintenance, storage, and warranty registration:

The brushless motor requires no brush replacement. Keep the air vents clear of dust. Wipe the tool body with a dry cloth after use. Store in the TSTAK case. Register the drill at MyDeWalt within 4 weeks of purchase to extend the warranty from 1 year to 3 years.
