Setup and Care

Battery installation and speed selection:

Slide a charged DeWalt 18V XR, FlexVolt, or POWERSTACK battery pack onto the base of the driver until it clicks into place. Select the appropriate speed setting using the 3-position switch: Speed 1 (1,000 RPM) for precision work, Speed 2 (2,800 RPM) for general fastening, and Speed 3 (3,250 RPM) for heavy-duty applications. Activate Precision Drive mode for controlled final-stage driving on delicate materials.

Using the impact driver and LED ring light:

Insert a 1/4 inch hex impact-rated driver bit or socket adaptor into the quick-release chuck. Squeeze the variable-speed trigger to begin driving. The 3 LED Halo ring light activates automatically when the trigger is pressed, illuminating the work area. Use impact-rated bits and sockets only: standard chrome vanadium sockets and bits are not designed for the repeated impacts and may shatter.

Maintaining the brushless motor and tool body:

The brushless motor requires no brush replacement and minimal maintenance. Keep the air vents clear of dust and debris to maintain cooling airflow. Wipe the tool body with a dry cloth after use. Store in a dry location. Remove the battery when the tool is not in use for extended periods.

Battery care and charging:

Charge batteries using a compatible DeWalt charger (not included). Do not leave batteries on the charger for extended periods after reaching full charge. Store batteries in a cool, dry location away from direct heat.
