Setup and Care

Initial charge and Windows 11 Pro setup:

Connect the AC power adaptor and fully charge the battery before first use. Open the lid and press the power button. Windows 11 Pro is pre-installed: follow the on-screen setup wizard to configure your language, Wi-Fi, and Microsoft account. Windows will download and install the latest updates during initial setup.

Connecting displays and peripherals:

Connect an external monitor via HDMI 1.4b or USB-C (DisplayPort 1.2) for a dual-screen workspace. The ThinkPad L14 supports up to 3 simultaneous displays including the built-in screen. Use the USB-A ports for wired peripherals and the always-on USB-A port to charge devices when the laptop is powered off. Connect to wired networks via the Gigabit Ethernet port for the most stable connection.

Using ThinkShutter and security features:

Slide the ThinkShutter cover across the webcam lens when not in use for physical privacy. The dTPM module encrypts stored data automatically. Set a Windows password and enable Windows Hello facial recognition or PIN for fast, secure login. Use the Kensington Lock slot to secure the laptop in shared office environments.

Battery care and maintenance:

The ThinkPad L14 supports rapid charging from 0 to 80% in approximately 1 hour.
