DJI Osmo Pocket Cameras

A pocket camera sits between a phone and a proper camera body, and the reason to choose one over either is the mechanical gimbal. Three motorised axes physically hold the lens steady rather than cropping into the frame to fake it, so a handheld walking shot stays level at full resolution. The sensor is the other half of the case: a 1-inch CMOS gathers far more light than a phone module of the same nominal megapixel count, which is what keeps indoor and evening footage usable. Both models here record 4K, with the newer body reaching 240 frames per second for slow motion and 37 megapixel stills, and both offer 10-bit D-Log if you intend to grade footage rather than publish it straight off the card. The rotating two-inch touchscreen is the feature people underrate, because it flips the camera between landscape and vertical without a rig or a reframe, which is the practical difference when one clip has to work on a widescreen edit and a phone feed. Audio runs over OsmoAudio, a direct wireless link to DJI Mic transmitters that removes a separate recorder and a sync step from the edit. Settle the Creator Combo question on whether you want the wide-angle lens, mic transmitter, fill light and mini tripod in the box rather than added later, and check built-in storage, since the newer body carries over 100GB before a card is needed at all.

Both bodies are DJI. The Osmo Pocket 4 Creator Combo is the current flagship, shipping with a Mic 3 transmitter, the wide-angle lens, a fill light and a mini tripod, recording up to 4K at 240 frames per second with 107GB of storage on board. The Osmo Pocket 3 covers the same idea in two forms, the standalone camera and a Creator Combo that adds a Mic 2 transmitter, battery handle, wide-angle lens and carrying bag, both with a 1-inch sensor, 4K at 120 frames per second and ActiveTrack subject tracking. For rugged forward-facing and full-sphere capture see DJI Action Cameras, for the wider cross-brand range Vlog Cameras, for the transmitters these bodies pair with DJI Microphones, and for phone-based shooting DJI Gimbals.
