Segway Electric Scooters

Segway sells its scooters under the Ninebot name, and the letter prefix is the fastest way to read the range. C is the entry tier aimed at lighter use and shorter trips. E steps up in motor power and battery. F is the mid-range commuter tier. ZT and MAX sit at the top for long-distance riding. Range in kilometres is the specification that matters most and it is quoted under ideal conditions, so treat it as a comparison figure rather than a promise: rider weight, hills, cold weather and speed all reduce it, and planning for around two thirds of the stated figure is realistic. A 70km scooter genuinely covers a week of commuting between charges, where a short-range model needs charging most nights. Beyond range, check folding mechanism and weight if the scooter has to go up stairs or into a car boot, tyre type since pneumatic tyres absorb rough surfaces far better than solid ones, and whether the deck has suspension. Riders in Ireland should be aware that e-scooter use on public roads is governed by specific regulations covering power output, speed and where they may be ridden, so check the current rules before buying. A helmet and a lock are worth budgeting for at the same time.

Segway supplies the whole range under the Ninebot name. The C series covers the C2 Lite in blue and black and the C2 Pro B in blue. The E series covers the E2 D II, E2 Pro D and E2 Pro E eKick models and the E3 D and E3 Pro D. The F series covers the F2 E and F2 Pro E in black and grey. At the top sit the ZT3 Pro D with a 70km range and the KickScooter MAX G2 E. Accessories cover a Commuter scooter helmet, a combination lock and a smartphone holder for the handlebars. For the wider range see Toys and Games.
