A soundbar is the shortest route to fixing the thin dialogue and flat effects that come from television speakers, and the Hisense HS2100 is a 2.1 channel system, meaning two front channels for stereo and dialogue plus a dedicated subwoofer channel for bass. At 240W it is sized for a normal sitting room rather than an open plan space. It decodes Dolby Digital and uses DTS Virtual X to widen the soundstage, which simulates height and surround effects from a single bar instead of requiring rear speakers and cabling. Bluetooth lets it double as a music speaker between viewing. Before buying, check the connection your television offers, since HDMI ARC allows a single cable to carry sound and lets the TV remote control the volume, while optical works on older sets.
