Watt-hours is the number that matters and it is often confused with watts. Watt-hours (Wh) is the size of the tank, meaning how much total energy the unit stores. Watts (W) is the size of the tap, meaning how much it can deliver at once. Both need checking: a 1024Wh unit will run a 100W fridge for roughly ten hours, but only if its output rating exceeds the fridge's startup surge. High-draw appliances such as kettles, heaters and power tools need a high output rating regardless of capacity. EcoFlow splits the range accordingly. RIVER units from 245Wh to 576Wh are the portable tier for camping, caravans, laptops, phones and lighting, light enough to carry in one hand. DELTA units from 1024Wh upward move into home backup, running a fridge, router, lights and medical equipment through an outage, and DELTA Pro reaches whole-home territory with expandable capacity. UPS models are worth understanding as a distinct feature: they switch over in milliseconds when mains power drops, fast enough that a desktop computer or home office setup never reboots. Charging is the other consideration, with solar panels giving off-grid recharging and an alternator charger topping up from a vehicle while driving, which suits campervans and long trips.
