Rope seal fits around the door and glass to stop air being drawn in past the gasket, which is what causes a stove to burn through fuel faster and smoke back into the room; it is sold by diameter, so match the old rope before ordering, and a heat-resistant adhesive holds it in place once fitted. A stove fan sits on top of the stove and turns the heat difference between its base and top into enough current to spin the blades, pushing warm air further into the room with no batteries or electricity needed. Heat-resistant gloves are the other essential, rated for handling logs, adjusting vents or moving a hot grate without a standard oven glove scorching through.
