This is the finishing layer of a bathroom rather than the fixtures, and each piece solves a specific practical problem. Bath mats are chosen by grip more than by looks: a rubber mat sits inside the bath or shower tray and suckers to the base to stop slipping, which is a different product from a fabric mat that sits on the floor to catch drips. Storage divides by whether you can drill. Hook on and hanging caddies fit over a shower door, screen or bath edge and need no fixings at all, which makes them the answer in a rented property. Wire tier units stand on the floor or tuck into a corner and can be moved for cleaning, and wire is the right material inside a wet area because it drains rather than pooling. Floor standing drawer units give closed storage for anything that should not sit on show, and gloss finishes wipe clean in a steamy room where matt paint marks. Note that furniture units are often supplied excluding the basin, so check what is included before ordering. A bath and basin shampoo spray is a small addition worth knowing about: it clips onto the tap and gives a flexible hose for rinsing hair or cleaning the bath, which no tap does well on its own.
