Luceco Solar Guardian 5W Solar PIR Floodlight for Outdoor Use

No wiring, no running costs:

The Solar Guardian charges its built-in 3000mAh lithium-ion battery via an integrated top-mounted solar panel, requiring 8-10 hours of sunlight for a full charge and providing up to 8 hours of runtime. There is no mains connection required, making it straightforward to install in locations where running a cable would be impractical - sheds, outhouses, side passages, and garden entrances included.

Three sensor modes for flexible control:

The integrated PIR and photocell detector offers three distinct operating modes: Presence, Security, and Dusk 'til Dawn. Presence mode activates the light on motion detection; Security mode keeps the light at a lower level and brightens on detection; Dusk 'til Dawn keeps the light on from sunset to sunrise. The PIR sensor covers a 180-degree detection angle with a range of 6 metres.

Built for Irish outdoor conditions:

The Solar Guardian carries an IP65 weatherproof rating, meaning it is fully protected against dust ingress and direct water jets. It also holds an IK06 impact resistance rating, providing resilience against incidental knocks. The operating temperature range of -20°C to +25°C covers typical year-round Irish weather without issue.

Efficient output from a compact unit:

At 5W, the Solar Guardian produces 550 lumens at a 4000K cool white colour temperature with a CRI of greater than 80, delivering clear, natural-looking light. The LED array has a rated lifetime of 25,000 hours. The unit measures 149 x 217 x 80mm and weighs 0.62kg, so it mounts neatly without requiring heavy-duty fixings.

Setup and Care

Choosing the right location:

Mount the floodlight in a position that receives direct sunlight for as much of the day as possible to ensure a full charge. South or south-west facing walls typically offer the best solar exposure in Ireland. Position the PIR sensor to face the area you wish to monitor, keeping in mind the 6-metre detection range and 180-degree coverage angle.

Installation:

Use the supplied mounting bracket, screws, and wall plugs to fix the unit securely to a wall, post, or fence. No electrical connection is required - once mounted and positioned in sunlight, the unit will begin charging automatically. Ensure the solar panel surface is unobstructed and angled to catch maximum light.

Getting the most from the sensor modes:

Select the operating mode that best suits your needs using the mode selector on the unit. Dusk 'til Dawn provides continuous low-level lighting through the night; Security mode offers ambient light with a bright boost on detection; Presence mode activates only when motion is detected, conserving charge for longer runtime.

Keeping the unit performing well:

Wipe the solar panel surface with a damp cloth periodically to remove dust, bird droppings, or debris that could reduce charging efficiency. The IP65 and IK06 ratings mean the unit can remain outdoors year-round without removal for storage.
