Most of this range exists to keep a coffee machine working rather than to add features, and the maintenance side is worth taking seriously because it is what determines how long the machine lasts. Descaling removes the limescale that builds up inside the boiler and pipework, and in a hard water area it is the single most important job: scale restricts flow, forces the pump to work harder and eventually kills the machine. A dedicated descaler such as EcoDecalk is formulated for the internals and is not interchangeable with household descaler, which can damage seals. A water filter tackles the same problem from the other end by reducing scale before it forms, and it improves the taste at the same time, though it needs replacing on a schedule rather than left indefinitely. Cleaning kits handle the milk system and brew unit, where old milk residue affects flavour long before it becomes visible. On the making side, a stainless steel frothing jug matters more than people expect: the shape controls how the milk rolls when steaming, which is what creates microfoam rather than bubbles, and steel lets you feel the temperature through the metal. A vacuum bean canister slows the staling that begins as soon as a bag is opened, and a cocoa shaker finishes the drink.
