Juicers

Cold press and citrus juicers work in fundamentally different ways and suit different fruit. A cold press, or masticating, juicer crushes and squeezes produce slowly rather than spinning it at high speed, which generates less heat and is generally accepted to preserve more vitamins and enzymes while giving a smoother, less pulpy juice, and it can handle leafy greens and tougher vegetables that a citrus press cannot touch at all. A citrus juicer is built for exactly what the name says: oranges, lemons and limes, using a spinning reamer to extract juice quickly with minimal cleanup, and it is the better choice if citrus is most of what you juice rather than a mixed range of fruit and veg.

Ninja supplies the 3-in-1 cold press juicer, slicer and shredder with an anti-clog filter. Smeg covers the 50's Retro Style electric citrus juicer across several colours. Braun supplies the Citrus Press and MultiJuice 5, Kenwood the True Citrus Juicer, Quest a slow masticating juicer, and Russell Hobbs a citrus juicer in stone.

Juicers follow the same January pattern as blenders: demand peaks in the new year and prices are firmest then, while the reductions land in November. Cold press machines carry the higher prices and take the larger cuts in absolute terms, so a reduced masticating juicer often lands near the price of a full price citrus press. Black Friday and Cyber Monday bring the deepest small appliance cuts of the Irish year. Prices are live all year, so see what is reduced now on blenders and food processors on sale, or the Black Friday blender deals when the November weekend comes round.
