The right shower depends entirely on the plumbing already in the house, and that is the first thing to establish. An electric shower heats water on demand from the cold mains and works regardless of what the boiler or cylinder is doing, which is why it suits a second bathroom or a house where hot water runs out; the kilowatt rating sets the flow, with 9.5kW noticeably stronger than a lower rated unit on the same supply. A power shower uses a pump to boost flow from a stored hot and cold supply and only works on a tank-fed system. Thermostatic models hold the temperature steady when a tap runs elsewhere in the house, which matters more than any other feature if there are children in the home.
