A socket set is judged on drive size, the range of sizes it covers and how well the case keeps everything organised in a van or workshop. Metric and hex socket ranges cover most car, bike and DIY work, while a wider set with deep sockets, extension bars and a ratchet handle saves a trip back to the toolbox mid-job. Piece count matters less than whether the sizes you actually need are in the set.
