Table Top Dishwashers

Table Top Dishwashers

A table top dishwasher fits a worktop rather than a base unit, which makes it the practical option for an apartment, a student let, or a kitchen where a full-size dishwasher was never plumbed in. It connects to the tap and drain the same way a full-size model connects to the mains, rather than plumbing into the wall, so it can be disconnected and moved. Despite the smaller footprint, most models still run multiple wash programs and a quick wash option, and hold a genuine day's worth of plates, cutlery, pots and glasses for one or two people.

Capacity is quoted in place settings, and a table top machine typically takes six, against 13 to 15 on a full size 60cm model. That is enough for a couple washing once a day rather than a family washing after every meal, so the honest test is how often you would run it. Check the height against your wall units before ordering, since these sit on the worktop rather than under it, and check the tap connector suits your kitchen tap.

Cecotec supplies the Bolero range in table top and counter top formats, and Heavins stocks a further table top model of its own. See full size dishwashers for larger households, or freestanding dishwashers if there is floor space for one.

Table top machines are the cheapest way into the category and are bought most often for a first flat or a student let, so they move in late August alongside the compact microwaves and the small fridges. Black Friday and Cyber Monday bring the deepest dishwasher cuts of the Irish year, though they land hardest on the full size machines where the starting prices are higher. Prices are live all year, so see what is reduced now on dishwashers on sale, or the Black Friday dishwasher deals when the November weekend comes round.
