The DCMCS565N runs on DeWalt's XR Brushless Motor, which draws power only as needed to maximise efficiency and extend battery life. Using a compatible 18V XR 5Ah battery, the saw delivers up to 100 cuts per charge in typical timber - enough for a full session of pruning, logging, or storm clearance without stopping to recharge.

300mm TRI-LINK bar and chain:

The 30cm TRI-LINK bar and chain are capable of cutting material up to 250mm in diameter, covering twice the bar length with each pass on small to medium stock. Chain speed is 7.3 m/s, making short work of branch work, timber felling, and construction trimming.

Auto-oiling and tool-free maintenance:

An automatic oiling system keeps the bar and chain lubricated throughout use, with a visible oil level gauge so you can check the 0.14-litre tank at a glance without dismantling anything. The oil cap design has been revised on the DCMCS565N compared to the earlier DCM565, addressing the misaligned cap issue reported on the previous model. Tool-free bar and chain replacement and a tooled tensioning system reduce downtime between cuts.

Safety and handling:

A chain brake stops the chain in under one second in the event of kickback, meeting EN62841-4-1:2020 safety requirements. Bumper spikes grip the material during cuts for better control, and an improved sprocket cover directs chip ejection away from the operator, reducing cleaning time. On-board tool storage keeps the included wrench and file to hand for adjustments in the field.

18V XR platform compatibility:

Setup and Care

Getting started:

Attach a compatible DeWalt 18V XR Li-Ion battery before first use. Fit the included bar and chain and tension using the tooled tensioning system, then check the oil tank is filled before starting cuts.

Chain tensioning and bar care:

Check chain tension regularly during use and adjust as needed using the on-board wrench. The tool-free bar replacement system makes swapping the bar straightforward without additional workshop tools.

Oiling and cleaning:

Monitor the visible oil gauge during use and top up the 0.14-litre tank with bar and chain oil as required. After each session, clear debris from the sprocket cover area and wipe down the bar to maintain performance.

Storage:

Remove the battery before storing. Keep the saw in a dry location, away from moisture and direct sunlight. Register your product at dewalt.co.uk within 28 days of purchase to extend your warranty from 1 year to 3 years.
