Setup and Care

Getting started:

Insert a compatible DeWalt 18V XR, FLEXVOLT®, or 20V MAX* battery (sold separately) until it clicks firmly into place. Use the twist-action keyless blade clamp to fit the appropriate reciprocating saw blade for your material before switching the tool on.

Selecting the right speed:

Use the variable-speed trigger to control stroke rate between 0 and 3,200 SPM. Lower speeds suit metal cutting and more precise work; higher speeds are suited to wood and demolition tasks where fast material removal is the priority.

Safe operation:

Engage the lock-off switch before transporting or storing the tool to prevent accidental activation. The two-position blade clamp allows for flush cutting where needed - select the correct position for the cut before starting.

Maintenance and storage:

Keep the blade clamp area clear of debris and inspect blades regularly for wear, replacing as needed. Store the tool in a dry location away from direct moisture. Remove the battery before any maintenance or blade change.
