Setup and Care

Getting started:

Fit a fully charged 18V XR Li-Ion battery (sold separately) to the base of the tool. Insert an SDS-Plus bit or chisel by pulling back the chuck collar, inserting the bit, and releasing - the bit will lock and rotate slightly to confirm it is seated. Select the required operating mode using the collar before switching on.

Choosing the right mode:

Use rotary-only mode for drilling into wood and metal. Select hammer drilling mode for concrete, brick, and masonry work. Use chisel-only mode with a flat or pointed chisel for plaster, tiles, and render. Always fit the multi-position side handle when working with the chisel or when drilling at larger diameters.

Ongoing maintenance:

After each session, wipe the exterior of the tool with a dry cloth and inspect the chuck for debris. Apply a small amount of SDS-Plus grease to bit shanks periodically to prolong chuck and bit life. Store the tool in a dry location away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.

Register the DCH273N-XJ on MyDEWALT within 4 weeks of purchase to extend the standard 1-year warranty to 3 years at no additional cost. Keep your proof of purchase in a safe place as it will be required for any warranty claim.
