These Rawlplug ground HSS steel drill bits are manufactured to DIN 338, a widely adopted standard that ensures consistent dimensions and cutting geometry across every bit in the range. The 4mm diameter and 75mm overall length are held to tight tolerances, so the bit performs reliably whether you are working on a bench drill or a handheld power drill.
SPLIT POINT geometry for accurate starts:
The 135° point angle uses Rawlplug's SPLIT POINT double-sided geometry, which centres the bit on the workpiece without the need for a centre punch in most situations. This design also reduces the axial pressure needed to start and maintain the cut, which is particularly useful when drilling into harder grades of carbon steel.
Ground spiral for a cleaner finish:
The spiral flutes are precision-ground rather than rolled, giving a smoother cutting action and helping to clear swarf more efficiently during drilling. This makes the bit well suited to drilling in carbon steel, aluminium, and other non-ferrous metals where a clean, accurate hole is needed.
