Rawlplug Aggressor SDS Plus Drill Bits for Concrete and Masonry

Built for speed in hard materials:

The Rawlplug Aggressor SDSA14/160 is a 14mm x 160mm SDS Plus masonry drill bit designed for fast, clean drilling in concrete, brick, reinforced concrete and high-density natural stone. The 160° carbide plate attack angle is the key to its drilling speed, significantly reducing the time needed to work through dense substrates compared with standard angle bits.

Construction and precision:

The bit is manufactured from 40Cr steel hardened to 54HRC, giving it both the stiffness to drive through masonry cleanly and the toughness to resist breakage under hammer action. A built-in centre point prevents the tip from wandering at the start of each hole, and the aggressive flute grooves pull waste material up and out of the bore efficiently as you drill.

Certified hole quality:

The Rawlplug Aggressor carries the international SicherSafe certificate, which independently verifies the cylindricity and axial alignment of holes produced by the bit. This matters when drilling for anchors, fixings or brackets where hole geometry directly affects load performance. The bit is suitable for applications including wall brackets, ceiling mounts, TV brackets, satellite dishes, balustrades and ventilated facades.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will this SDS plus drill bit fit my hammer drill?

This bit fits any hammer drill with a standard SDS Plus quick-release chuck, which covers most SDS Plus hammer drills on the market. It will not work in a standard rotary drill or a drill with a keyless chuck, as those do not accept the SDS Plus shank. If the drill has an SDS Plus chuck, the bit locks straight in without adapters.

What makes this masonry drill bit faster than a standard one?

The key is the 160-degree carbide plate attack angle, which cuts into concrete more aggressively than a standard-angle tip and significantly reduces drilling time. A two-cutter design with aggressive flute grooves pulls debris up and out of the bore continuously as the bit advances, keeping the cutting face clear and maintaining speed throughout the hole. The centre point also prevents tip wander at the start, so there is no time lost repositioning.

Does the hole quality matter for anchors and fixings?

Hole geometry matters directly for load performance when fitting anchors, brackets or structural fixings - an out-of-round or misaligned hole reduces the rated holding capacity of a fixing. This bit carries the independent SicherSafe certificate, which verifies both the cylindricity and axial alignment of holes it produces. The SDSA14/160 is approved for substrates including concrete, reinforced concrete, solid brick, hollow-core slab and high-density natural stone.

What is included, and how long is the working length of this drill bit?

The pack contains one drill bit supplied on a plastic hanger. The bit has an overall length of 160mm and a working length of 100mm, which is the fluted section that does the cutting. That 100mm working length makes it well suited to deep-bore applications where a shorter bit would not reach.
