Air Conditioners

Portable air conditioning units for Irish homes range from compact 5000 BTU models suited to a single bedroom up to 12000 BTU units capable of cooling a larger open-plan room, with smart app control available on several models. Most portable air conditioners double as a dehumidifier and fan, and inverter technology on higher-output models helps them run more quietly and efficiently than older compressor designs. A window or door venting kit is included with every unit, so no permanent installation or professional fitting is needed, and the same unit can usually be moved from room to room as needed.

Choosing the right BTU rating matters more than any other spec: a unit sized for a small bedroom will struggle in a large living room, while an oversized unit in a small space cycles on and off more than necessary. Checking a room's square footage against the manufacturer's coverage guide before buying is the best way to avoid either mistake.

Portable air conditioners in this range come from Black & Decker, Delonghi and Dimplex. See also Air Purifiers for indoor air quality, or browse the Clearance Sale for reduced units.
