Three different products get called patio cleaner and they do different jobs, so matching the product to the problem saves both money and effort. A patio and path cleaner tackles the black and green film of algae, mould and general grime on slabs, monoblock, concrete and decking, and it works chemically rather than by scrubbing, so it keeps working for days after application. A dedicated moss and green remover targets established moss growth specifically, which is thicker and more stubborn than surface algae. A path and gravel weed killer is not a cleaner at all: it kills growing weeds in the joints and on gravel, which is a separate problem from discolouration and needs treating separately. Concentrate versus ready to use is the other decision. Concentrate is diluted before applying and works out considerably further per container, so it suits a full driveway or a large patio. Ready to use comes in a trigger spray and suits spot treatment, steps and small areas where mixing is more trouble than it is worth. Practical points that decide the result: apply to a dry surface with dry weather ahead so the product is not washed off before it acts, allow the stated dwell time rather than rinsing early, and keep children and pets off the area until it has dried. Always read the label, since dilution rates and safety guidance vary by product.
