Blackfriar Aluminium Wood Primer for Hardwoods and Resinous Timbers

Barrier protection for resinous and hardwood surfaces:

Blackfriar Aluminium Wood Primer is a solvent-based primer containing aluminium pigment, formulated specifically for new or old bare hardwoods and highly resinous timbers. The aluminium pigment creates a barrier that prevents resin bleed from penetrating through subsequent coats of paint, making it particularly well-suited to hardwood window frames, joinery, and similar applications.

Interior and exterior use, including marine applications:

This primer is suitable for use on all types of softwoods and hardwoods, both indoors and outdoors, including marine timber applications. It can also be applied as a sealer over aged creosoted or bitumen-coated surfaces. Note that oily hardwoods such as Teak or Iroko must be fully degreased with white spirit or methylated spirits before application.

Application and drying times:

Apply by brush or roller, thinning with a maximum of 5% white spirit if required. The primer is touch dry in 2-4 hours, recoatable after 16 hours, and fully hard dry within 3 days. Do not apply in temperatures below 5°C or in damp or humid conditions.
