The Brother DCP-J1260W handles everyday printing, scanning, and copying from a single device small enough to sit on a bookshelf or sideboard. Its low-profile footprint - 390mm wide, 343mm deep, and just 148.5mm tall - keeps your workspace tidy without sacrificing capability. The 150-sheet paper tray supports paper weights from 64 to 220 g/m², covering everything from standard A4 to heavier card stock.

Wireless connectivity for the whole household:

The DCP-J1260W connects via 5GHz WiFi or USB 2.0 Hi-Speed, so every device in the home can send print jobs without cables. It supports Apple AirPrint, Mopria®, and Brother Mobile Connect, meaning Android and iOS users can print directly from their smartphone or tablet. Wi-Fi Direct is also built in, supporting WPA2-PSK (AES) for secure peer-to-peer connections.

Print quality and speed for daily tasks:

Print speeds reach up to 16ipm in mono and 9ipm in colour, with a first page out time from 6.2 seconds. Maximum print resolution is 1,200 x 6,000 dpi, and the flatbed scanner delivers up to 1,200 x 2,400 dpi optical resolution. Borderless printing is supported, and the built-in Quiet Mode reduces noise when disruption-free operation is needed.

Starter ink and low running costs included:

The box includes starter ink cartridges in all four colours (CMYK), each rated at 200 pages. Replacement LC521 cartridges are rated at up to 500 pages each, with running costs of approximately 3.4p per mono page and 10.7p per colour page. Brother's EcoPro ink subscription service is also available for automatic cartridge replenishment based on your print volume.

Security and software:

The DCP-J1260W is built with triple-layer security at device, network, and document level. Brother iPrint&Scan software supports printing and scanning from Windows and Mac, while PaperPort™ 14SE is compatible with Windows 10 and Windows 11 for document management. Note that Mac printing and scanning requires AirPrint, as dedicated Mac drivers are not provided.

Setup and Care

Getting started:

The DCP-J1260W sets up via the included quick setup guide. Connect wirelessly using WPS or enter your network credentials directly; USB connection is also available as a straightforward alternative. Brother Mobile Connect is available free from the App Store and Google Play for smartphone setup and management.

Mobile and desktop software:

Brother iPrint&Scan handles printing and scanning from Windows PCs. Mac users print and scan via Apple AirPrint. PaperPort™ 14SE is available for document management on Windows 10 and Windows 11.

Ink maintenance:

The printer performs automatic print head maintenance periodically, including when switched off, to keep the nozzles in good condition. Use only LC521-series ink cartridges to maintain print quality and warranty coverage. Ink levels can be checked at any time via the Brother Mobile Connect app.

Keeping your printer in good condition:

Place the printer on a flat, stable surface with adequate clearance at the front for paper output. Keep the unit away from direct sunlight and sources of excess moisture. Use Quiet Mode in noise-sensitive environments to reduce operational sound to a more comfortable level.
