The EcoFlow 800W Alternator Charger is a DC-DC boost converter that pulls surplus energy from your vehicle's alternator and delivers it directly to your EcoFlow power station at up to 800W. That is eight times faster than a standard cigarette lighter socket, and enough to top up 1kWh in just 1.3 hours of driving. It works with 12V and 24V vehicle systems, making it a practical fit for SUVs, pickups, vans, and RVs alike.

Three operating modes in one unit:

Beyond straightforward charging, the EcoFlow 800W Alternator Charger operates in three distinct modes: Charging Mode draws up to 800W from the alternator to charge your power station; Battery Maintenance Mode keeps your vehicle's starter battery topped up when the power station is supplying energy back; and Reverse Charge Mode outputs up to 800W at 13.8V or 27.6V to power 12V or 24V accessories directly from a connected EcoFlow unit. Each mode is selectable through the EcoFlow app.

GaN technology and built-in protections:

The unit uses GaN (Gallium Nitride) conversion technology, which handles high thermal loads more efficiently than conventional components. Undervoltage protection prevents the charger from drawing the starting battery below a usable threshold - it activates only when input voltage exceeds 13V. Additional protections include reverse polarity, overcurrent, short circuit, and overvoltage. The operating temperature range runs from -20°C to 60°C, covering most conditions encountered on the road or at a campsite.

App control and infotainment integration:

The EcoFlow Alternator Charger connects to the EcoFlow app via 2.4GHz Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, letting you monitor charging status and switch modes without leaving the driver's seat. It also supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, so the app can be accessed through your vehicle's built-in infotainment screen - a practical arrangement when the charger is fitted out of reach behind a dashboard or in a load bay.

Expandable house battery support:

The charger supports 12V and 24V house battery systems as well as the vehicle's starter battery, and when paired with compatible EcoFlow power stations it can expand your on-board energy storage up to 7.2kWh. The XT150 output cable is included and connects directly to EcoFlow DELTA and RIVER series stations. An optional XT60 cable (sold separately) extends compatibility to most third-party portable power stations.

Setup and Care

Installation:

Mount the charger using the supplied installation board in a well-ventilated location away from direct heat sources. Route the 5m input cable from the vehicle's battery terminals to the charger, securing it with the cable puller and included hardware. Connect the XT150 output cable to your EcoFlow power station before powering the vehicle.

App setup:

Download the EcoFlow app on iOS or Android and pair the charger via Bluetooth for initial setup. Once connected to your vehicle's Wi-Fi hotspot or a mobile data connection, monitoring and mode switching are available remotely. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto users can access the app through the vehicle's infotainment screen once pairing is complete.

Voltage activation:

The charger activates automatically when the vehicle's alternator raises input voltage above 13V - in practice, this means charging begins shortly after the engine is started. It stops drawing current when the voltage drops below the threshold, so it will not operate if the engine is off.

Care and maintenance:

Keep the unit clear of standing water and debris; the enclosure is designed for in-vehicle use rather than direct exposure to the elements. Check all cable connections periodically for signs of wear, particularly at the fuse holder. Store the unit within the -30°C to 70°C storage temperature range when the vehicle is not in use for extended periods.
