Epson estimates this is equivalent to approximately 80 ink cartridges, providing up to 3 years of printing before you need to purchase replacement bottles. When the tanks do run low, replacement ink bottles cost a fraction of traditional cartridge sets, saving up to 90% on ink costs over the life of the printer. The uniquely keyed EcoFit bottles are colour-coded and shaped to fit only the correct tank, preventing mix-ups during refilling.

Setup and Care

Initial ink filling and first-time setup:

Remove all protective tape and packaging inserts. Open each ink tank cap and fill with the corresponding EcoFit ink bottle (the uniquely keyed nozzle fits only the correct tank). Allow the ink to flow into the tank without squeezing the bottle. The initial fill uses a portion of ink to charge the printhead, so page yields from the first fill will be slightly lower than subsequent refills. Connect to your Wi-Fi network using the 2.4 inch touchscreen and follow the on-screen setup wizard.

Connecting via Wi-Fi, Ethernet, or USB:

For wireless printing, connect the printer to your home or office Wi-Fi network during setup. For a wired network connection, plug an Ethernet cable into the RJ-45 port. For a direct computer connection, use the USB-B cable. Install the Epson Smart Panel app on your smartphone or tablet for mobile printing, scanning, and ink level monitoring. Apple AirPrint and Mopria require no additional driver installation on compatible devices.

Using the ADF and auto duplex features:

Load multi-page documents face-up into the 30-sheet DADF tray. The duplex ADF scans and copies both sides of each page automatically. For double-sided printing, select duplex in your print settings. The auto duplex feature works for printing, scanning, and copying, saving paper across all three functions. The 250-sheet paper tray handles A4, letter, legal, and photo paper sizes.

Ink level monitoring and printhead maintenance:

Check ink levels through the transparent tank windows on the front of the printer, through the 2.4 inch touchscreen, or via the Epson Smart Panel app. Refill ink when levels reach the lower line on the tank. The permanent PrecisionCore printhead requires no user replacement. If print quality deteriorates, run the automatic head cleaning cycle from the maintenance menu. Avoid using non-Epson ink, as this may affect print quality and void the warranty.
