Smith and Rodger Blockade - a Pure Shellac Primer That Blocks Stains and Seals in One Coat

Permanent stain blocking on problem surfaces:

Blockade uses a pure shellac base to permanently seal in stains from nicotine, smoke, fire, water damage, and mould before you redecorate. It also locks in tannins, grease, and the natural resins found in knots on new timber, preventing bleed-through that would ruin a topcoat applied over a standard primer.

Fast turnaround for trade and DIY use:

With a touch-dry time of just 15 minutes and a recoat window of 45 minutes, two full coats can be applied within a single working morning. The product reaches full cure within 3 days. Apply using a brush, roller, HVLP spray, or airless spray equipment, and thin or clean brushes using methylated spirits.

Versatile adhesion without sanding:

Blockade bonds to difficult substrates including gloss paint, varnish, ceramic tile, and porous new plaster without the need to sand back to bare substrate first. Unlike water-based primers, it does not raise the grain on timber surfaces, saving preparation time on joinery and furniture work. For exterior use, it is suitable for spot priming resinous knots in timber only - it is not intended as a full exterior coating system.
