Portable Power Stations for Sale
Every portable power station currently reduced at Heavins is on this page. A power station is a battery pack with real plug sockets on it: a rechargeable battery, an inverter and a set of outputs in one box, so it runs the things a phone power bank cannot, a kettle, a fridge, a laptop, a CPAP machine, a television, lights or power tools. People find them under a few different names, portable battery, battery pack, power bank with a plug socket or camping battery, and they are all the same product.
Two numbers decide what a unit will do. Capacity in watt hours tells you how much energy is stored and therefore how long it runs something, and output in watts tells you what it can run at all. A 300Wh unit will charge phones and a laptop for days but will not run a kettle. A 1000W output is where a kettle, a toaster or a small heater becomes possible, and the capacity then decides for how long. The rough sum is capacity in watt hours divided by the appliance's wattage, so a 1000Wh station runs a 100W fridge for around eight to nine hours after losses.
Battery chemistry is the specification worth paying attention to in a sale. LiFePO4, sometimes written LFP, lasts in the region of 3,000 charge cycles against roughly 500 for older lithium ion, which is the difference between a unit that is still useful in ten years and one that is not. Check the recharge time and whether the unit takes solar input, since a solar panel turns a power station from a battery you refill at home into one that refills itself on a campsite. Check the socket count and the mix of Irish three pin sockets, USB C with its wattage, USB A and 12V, and check whether it offers pass through charging or an uninterruptible supply, which is what lets it sit between the mains and a fridge or a router during a power cut.
The three reasons people in Ireland buy one are consistent: camping and festivals, caravans, motorhomes and boats, and power cuts during winter storms, which is when this category sells out nationally. Buying one in the autumn at a reduced price rather than during the week of a named storm is the difference between choosing a unit and taking whatever is left.
Black Friday and Cyber Monday Power Station Deals
Power stations take some of the largest absolute reductions of the Black Friday weekend because the starting prices are high and the brands compete directly. November is also exactly when Irish demand rises, as the first winter storms arrive, so the well specified mid range units sell out early. Prices on this page are live all year round, and the quieter months of late spring are worth watching too.
Reduced units here come from Anker and EcoFlow. For the full range with buying guidance rather than only the reductions, see portable power stations.
Everything here can be delivered across the Republic of Ireland or collected in store at Shannon Retail Park, Dublin Road, Athlone.
