Painting & Decorating

Getting a paint job right is mostly about choosing the correct product for the surface, and that is the order this range is arranged in. Interior work splits by finish, with matt and vinyl colours for walls and ceilings, satinwood and eggshell for a low sheen on woodwork, and gloss where a hard wipeable surface is wanted on skirting and doors. Exterior work is a different problem entirely, because it has to cope with Irish weather, so masonry paints, exterior woodcare, fence and shed treatments and metal paints are formulated to move with the surface and shed water rather than simply cover it. Primers and undercoats are the step most often skipped and the most common reason a finish fails, particularly on bare wood, new plaster and anything previously coated in a different type of paint.

The range covers the specialist and general names Irish decorators use, including Cuprinol for woodcare and garden colour, Rustins and Petersons for finishes and restoration, Bostik for adhesives and fillers, and Douglas, Lowe, Dargan, Bihui and Roughneck across brushes, rollers, tiling tools and preparation. The main departments underneath are Interior Colours, Exterior Colours, Interior Woodcare, Exterior Woodcare, Primers & Undercoat, Paint Brushes and Paint Rollers.
