Tumble Dryers Sale

Tumble Dryers for Sale

Every tumble dryer currently reduced at Heavins is on this page. A dryer is the appliance where the purchase price and the running cost pull hardest in opposite directions, so a sale changes the maths more here than almost anywhere else in the shop. The three types are not really three price points, they are three different running costs, and understanding that is the whole decision.

A vented dryer is the cheapest to buy and the most expensive to run: it heats air, passes it through the drum and pushes the damp air out through a hose to a window or a wall vent. A condenser dryer costs a little more and needs no hose, because it condenses the moisture into a tank you empty, but it uses roughly the same electricity. A heat pump dryer recycles its own hot air through a closed loop instead of throwing it away, which typically cuts energy use by around half and is why heat pump models carry A++ and A+++ ratings while vented dryers sit at B and C. The trade off is a longer cycle, a gentler drum temperature that is better for clothes, and a higher price up front, which is precisely the gap a sale closes. On daily use a heat pump dryer usually pays back the difference within a couple of years.

Capacity is quoted in kilograms of dry cotton, and the practical rule is that your dryer should be the same size as your washing machine or one step larger, so an 8kg washer wants an 8 or 9kg dryer. Undersizing is what makes a dryer slow and creased. After that, look for sensor drying rather than a timer, because a sensor stops when the clothes are dry instead of cooking them for a fixed thirty minutes, and it is the feature that saves the most energy in daily use. Check the noise rating if the dryer lives in a kitchen rather than a utility room, and check whether a condensate drain kit is included if you would rather plumb it than empty a tank.

Heat Pump Tumble Dryers Reduced

The lowest running cost in the category and the gentlest on clothes. Look for A++ or A+++, sensor drying and a capacity that matches your washing machine. See heat pump tumble dryers.

Washer Dryer Combos

One machine, one set of plumbing, one space. A washer dryer combo is the right answer where there is no room for two appliances, and the thing to check is the drying capacity, which is always smaller than the washing capacity. Browse washer dryers.

Heated Airers and Clothes Horses

A heated clothes airer runs at a fraction of a dryer's wattage and, with a cover over it, dries a full load overnight. It is the cheapest indoor drying there is and the reason dehumidifier and airer sales rise together every Irish winter. See airers and clothes horses.
