Two numbers decide most of this purchase. Capacity in kilograms should follow household size rather than drum appearance: 8kg suits two to three people, 9kg is the volume seller for a family, and 10kg to 11kg suits a larger household or anyone washing bedding and towels in full loads. Underfilling a large drum wastes nothing, but overfilling a small one leaves clothes poorly rinsed, so size up rather than down if you are between. Spin speed is the second figure and it decides how wet the washing is when it comes out: 1600rpm extracts more water than 1400rpm, which shortens line drying and cuts tumble dryer time and cost afterwards. That matters more in an Irish winter than the difference suggests. Hoover grades its machines by H-Wash series number, running 300, 350, 500 and 700, with higher numbers adding programmes, quieter operation and better build, alongside the Pro Wash range. Integrated models fit behind a kitchen cabinet door for a seamless run of units, and they are not interchangeable with freestanding machines, so check which your kitchen is built for before ordering. Several models add WiFi for remote start and cycle monitoring. Measure the aperture including depth with the door and hoses before buying.
