Fridge-Freezer

Fridge Freezers

The split ratio between fridge and freezer space is the first thing to decide, and it is worth thinking about actual usage rather than habit. A 50/50 split gives equal space to both and suits a household that cooks fresh regularly but still wants freezer capacity for batch cooking. A 60/40 or 70/30 split shifts more space to the fridge, which suits anyone buying fresh food more often than they freeze it. Beyond the split, frost-free technology removes the job of manually defrosting the freezer compartment, reversible doors let the appliance fit a kitchen layout that opens the other way, and a fast-freeze setting is worth having if batch cooking or big food shops are routine. Energy rating matters more on a fridge freezer than most appliances, since it runs continuously rather than only when in use, so the difference between ratings compounds over years rather than one cycle.

Bosch, Beko and Hoover cover 50/50, 60/40 and 70/30 splits across integrated and freestanding formats. Samsung supplies Bespoke French-style models with autofill water pitchers, and Belling and Hisense cover the frost-free mid range. Electrolux, Candy, Liebherr and Powerpoint complete the range. Fridge freezers sit alongside the rest of the Kitchen Appliances department.

Because a fridge freezer runs continuously, a reduction that moves you up an energy rating pays back twice: once on the price and again every month it runs. That is the trade worth looking for in a sale rather than simply the biggest saving.
